Syrian President Bashar Al Assad received cables of congratulations on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Syrian independence from France.

For his part, the Armenian President Sargsyan expressed his warmest congratulations and good wishes to President Assad and the Syrian people, while also expressing deep confidence that the strong Syrian-Armenian relations, which exist for over a quarter of a century, will continue to do so in the future and benefit both nations.
He also appreciated the decision of the Syrian government to include Armenia in its peace initiative, aimed at bringing peace and stability to Syria, hoping that the successful outcome, along with the efforts of the international community, will finally bring the much needed peace to Syria.
