Five Russian sailors who were previously detained in Libya, have finally returned to Russia. The men were arrested by the Libyan coastal guard after their ship entered Libyan territorial waters on the 5th of March.

"We managed to free five sailors who were working aboard the cargo ship Merle and who have since returned to Russia", the Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov was heard saying.

He also said that Russian diplomats held meetings with Libyan politicians in Tripoli, but have not addressed the Parliament of the country, regarding the matter.

Yesterday, the Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Fayez Al Saraj, Libyan Prime minister and Chairman of the Presidential Council, in Tripoli. The two men discussed economic cooperation between the countries, and especially the return of the Russian companies to Libya after their presence was disrupted due to the ongoing situation in the country.
