The Syrian army and its allies have gained control over the key strategic town of Helfaya, located in the northern countryside of Hama province. Scores of terrorists were reportedly killed in the operation.

The achievement comes, following days-long intense clashes with Al Nusra Front terrorists and their allies of Hayat Tahrir Al Sham. On Thursday, Syrian forces also captured the strategic town of Taibat Al Imam and what eventually allowed them to make further progress into Helfaya.

Capturing these towns is of great importance for the army is it would allow it to expand its presence and eventually crush the major-scale offensive, launched by Al Nusra Front and their allies in the norther countryside of Hama on March 22nd.

The army also established control over the villages of Zlin, Al Obeidah, Battich, Zour Al Nasiriyah, Zour Abu Zeid, Tel Nasiriyah and Tel Karni, located in the northern countryside of Hama.

In the meantime, new gains were made in strategically important Damascene district of Qaboun. According to the field reports, the army is in control of Imam Hussein mosque.
