Members of Australian Hands off Syria movement organised a rally in Sydney in solidarity with the Armenian genocide victims and in protest of the visit of the US vice president Mike Pence to Australia in the wake of illegal US missile strike on Syria.

Patriotic Syrian and Armenian songs were sang, while honouring those who died over 100 years ago and those who are dying today.

Despite the war, Syria still hosts a seizable Armenian community, majority of whose members are the descendants of the hundreds of thousands of Armenian war refugees that Syrians saved from the knives of the Turks during the First World War.

Lots of Syrian Armenians are actively fighting in the Syrian Army. Many already gave their lives while struggling against the ongoing genocidal campaign of Turkey, Western states and Arab regimes that was unleashed onto the people of Syria back in 2011.

Syria maintains strong ties with Armenia and is also one of the few countries in the world whose parliament paid a tribute to the victims of the 1915 genocide, committed by Turkish supremacists.
