Three Russian citizens, dressed in Syrian uniforms, were allegedly detained by the Lebanese army while trying to cross the Syrian border.

"The Lebanese army on Tuesday arrested three Russian citizens on the Northern border of the city Abbudayya in Akkar, after they crossed from Syria" - said the security source to The Daily Star.

"It is possible these men are part of terrorist group networks."

The Lebanese armed forces have not yet released an official statement.

Ed: As a reminder, around 5000 Russian nationals and 4000 of former Soviet territories, individuals of extremist views, are thought to be fighting in Syria on the side of ISIS and their counterparts. These are the people, according to Vladimir Putin, that should not have a way of ever returning to Russia, prompting Russia's airforce campaign in Syria in 2015.
