The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has urged the the Ministry of Justice to confisctae the property and assets of the Russian company "Gazprom" in the Ukraine, in connection with a fine in the amount of over $6 billion.

On 5 December 2016, the Kyiv Economic Court ordered "Gazprom, Ukraine" to pay fines and penalties of  UAH 171.8 billion (about $6.8 billion) on charges of "abuse of the dominant position on the Ukrainian gas market."

Gazprom, in turn, called the fine illegal due to the fact that the gas is transferred to "Naftogaz of Ukraine" on the western border of Russia and "Gazprom" does not carry out further business activities in this country.

Gazprom attempted to appeal the fine in the Ukrainian court, but the case was prima facie, dismissed without consideration.
