Israeli website Rotter.net revealed that Turkey and Qatar signed an agreement to establishment a Turkish military base in Qatar,

600 Turkish soldiers and officers are said to be transferred to Qatar in the first phase.

According to an agreement, the base which is financed solely by Qatar, will be managed by two colonels, one Qatari and one Turkish.

The Turkish opposition, however, opposed decision of Erdogan regime to establish a military base in Qatar.

It is noteworthy that Qatar is not the first GCC state to form a security cooperation with a foreign entity. Previously, Saudi Arabia asked Pakistan to send some of its troops in order to guard the Saudi border with Yemen. United Arab Emirates reportedly made some agreements with Egypt.
The GCC states often resort to such cooperations, due to an alleged security threat from Iran. The latter, however, has not made any threatening moves so far.

The move does not come as a surprise as both, Qatar and Turkey are strong allies in backing takfiri terrorist groups, fighting against the Syrian Army, with Qatar being one of the main donors to these groups.

Rotter.net further added the base might be expanded in the future and is currently being established for an undisclosed period of time.
