Sources at the terrorist group Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham confirmed the arrest of Abdul Baset Al Sarut, notorious terrorist and commander of Bayada Martyrs' Brigade.

Al Sarut, former goalkeeper, rose to fame during the time of the clashes in the Syrian city of Homs, before eventually leaving for Idleb.

According to the sources of the so-called “Syrian Opposition”, Al Sarut was wanted by the “rebel” courts in Homs province after allegedly joining ISIS.

Al Sarut reportedly pledged his allegiance to ISIS in order to get money and food, however ISIS rejected his pledge as “incomplete and insincere”, a thing that eventually forced himto publish an online video in which he completely denounced any attempts of ever joining ISIS.

Yesterday, he was arrested by the forces of Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham (ex-Al Nusra Front) while travelling on the road between the city of Idleb and the border town of Salqin.

He has since been transferred to a prison, located in the mountains of Kafr Takharim, where he currently awaits his trial that will be supervised by Abdullah Mhaisni, Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham terrorist of Saudi background.

Al Sarut is a former goalkeeper for the famous Syrian football club Al Karama, before eventually becoming a leader of the FSA-aligned Bayada Martyrs' Brigade.

In late 2015, his group’s headquarters in Dar Al Kabir in the northern countryside of Homs were raided by Al Nusra Front terrorists.

After days of intense clashes, during which Al Nusra Front gained the ground, Al Sarut and 150 of his fighters were allowed to depart Dar Al Kabir and head to Idleb.

Meanwhile, news surfaced that 50 prisoners, previously detained by Al Nusra Front terrorists managed to escape from the prison in Abu Dhur, a town in Idleb province.

The escape reportedly occurred after one of detainees who was ordered to prepare a tea for the guards, managed to steal a gun from one of the guards, opened fire on them and freed other prisoners who then tied all the guards.

Among the people who fled were mostly members of the Free Syrian Army, in addition to 13 civilians.

Al Nusra Front did not comment on the matter.
