Macron Wins the Second Round of the French Presidential Elections, According to Preliminary Results - Like This Article

Emmanuel Macron, the centrist neo-liberal candidate of En Marche! movement has won the second round of the French presidential elections by gaining approx. 65% against the nationalist candidate Marine Le Pen, according to the early preliminary results, provided by the French Interior Ministry.

The elections, where no less less than 47 million French citizens were able to cast their votes, were surrounded with strict security measures as some 50,000 police officers are currently on duty, 5000 in Paris alone where they also got joined by some 12,000 soldiers.

By 5pm, approx. 65,3% of all eligible voters casted their votes.

The presidential elections were also surrounded with several anti-Le Pen rallies that took place all over France, namely after the latter qualified for the second round of the presidential race.
