German Chancellor Angela Merkel is visiting Saudi Arabia.

During a visit that began on Sunday, she urged Saudi leadership to suspend all military operations against Yemen.

"We are hoping for the diplomatic intervention by the United Nations which would help to reach a peaceful solution as we do not believe in the violent nature of this conflict.", Merkel was heard saying. 

She also said the humanitarian situation in Yemen is critical and that the only way to stop the suffering of the people is to cease all military activities and start looking for a peaceful solution.

Apart from that, the talks with the Saudi regime officials, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz including, were mainly focused on cooperation between Riyadh and Berlin. Several economic agreements were signed during the talks.

The German side also agreed to start training Saudi regime troops in Germany, in addition to begin preparations for a joint police cooperation with Saudi Arabia, particularly related to training of Saudi women so that they will be able to work in the field of border protection and aviation security sector.

It is noteworthy that since March 2015, Saudi Arabia is conducting a military aggression against Yemen. Among its allies are also the Yemeni branches of the terrorist network Al Qaeda.
