Director-General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Ahmet Uzumcu, said his organisation created a team of experts, dedicated to launch a probe and investigate all circumstances, surrounding the notorious Khan Sheikhoun chemical attack incident.

According to Uzumcu, the team of experts has not left for Syria yet. The approximate date of their departure for Syria is not known at the moment. The team is said to consist of 15 experts who will carefully study all available information and analyze all gathered data and materials, related to the incident.

Uzumcu also said the WHO experts analyzed blood and urine samples of the attack victims, insisting they constitute “irrefutable evidence which cannot be questioned”.

The goal of the investigation is to uncover the reality of events, surrounding the Khan Sheikhoun incident.

On the 4th of April, the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun, located in Idleb province, was allegedly devastated by a chemical attack. Although no evidence of chemical weapons being used was ever provided, terrorist groups, controlling the affected area, as well as their Western and Arab backers immediately accused the Syrian Air Force of being behind the attack. The accusations have since been refuted and denied.
