Turchinov expects Russian military attacks on Poland and Lithuania
The Russian military during the exercises "West-2017" allegedly will work out an offensive through Poland and Lithuania.
This opinion was expressed by the Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchinov.
In an interview with the newspaper Liga.NET, he stated: "In the design of the exercises, it is also planned to develop a Kaliningrad corridor, which in reality is impossible without aggression against Lithuania and Poland."
He explained that one of the priorities of the Kremlin is the restoration of the borders of Russia within the framework of the USSR. However, according to the head of the National Security and Defense Council, the attempt to return Ukraine into orbit "stalled."
This Ukrainian figure has already voiced similar views. Thus, at the end of April, Turchinov declared that the Russian-Belarusian exercises could be a preparation for an offensive operation on the countries of Eastern Europe. In addition, he "warned" that the Russian military was planning a large-scale armed invasion of Ukraine.
The joint Russia-Belarus maneuvers "West-2017" will be held in September 2017 on several ranges of the countries.
