US media has reported on the impressive capabilities of a Russian weapon that has no analogues in other armies of the world.

They are talking about the self-propelled 240-mm mortar 2S4 "Tulip". According to the publication The National Interest, this is the most powerful mortar system. "Tulip" weighs about 30 tons and unlike most mortars, it can shoot high-explosive mines, which are comparable to small bombs. The firing range is up to nine kilometers, and the use of active-reactive mines can be increased up to twenty kilometers with one shot per minute.

Due to mounted trajectory, powerful mines are released from the "Tulip", effectively destroying the enemy hiding behind fortified walls, near entrances of caves or on the opposite hillside. In addition, the "Tulip" can also fire nuclear and otherwise controlled mines.

The publication notes that the powerful launchers are capable of destroying not only fortified defensive positions, but an entire city.

The National Interest emphasizes that unlike other Soviet artillery systems, versions of the "Tulip" were not exported to the countries of the Warsaw Pact, with the exception of a few units, assigned to Czechoslovakia.

Western armies, having no such weapons, prefer to destroy fortified stronghold of the enemy by using bombs. But in an environment where you can not use aircraft, "Tulip" benefits become apparent.
