The European Union has officially renewed Russia's economic sanctions – due to expire on July 31 – for a further six months, a source in Brussels reported to RIA Novosti.
"The decision has been made", said the official who asked to remain anonymous.
Moscow expressed regret for this decision, as the sanctions are believed to be unable of solving any problem that the European Union places in relations with Russia.
"More than once, independent European personalities have shown that our sanctions and countermeasures have hit the economies of EU countries first and foremost; the renewal of the sanctions is a source of concern. The aggressive minority within EU prevailed”, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexey Meshkov told reporters.
