Foreign journalists have been visiting the construction of the Crimea Bridge. About 50 participants of the international media forum "Open Crimea: Eye Witness" observed the assembly of navigational arches in the Kerch-Enikalsk channel.
Witnessing the montage was an impressive sight for the journalists. Representatives of the press recognized the seriousness and scale of the project and took note of the high professionalism of the builders.
"For me, this is an unprecedented experience, I see how people are at work, how they have gotten it ready, and what in-depth knowledge they have.
"For Russia, much depends on this project: the life of the Crimeans, Russia's life itself, and Russia's image. I am surprised not only by the technology, but most of all I am surprised by the speed. This construction could not go on for decades, because it is needed now, I was very impressed," said Julietto Chiesa, editor of the Italian TV channel Pandora TV.
"In my expectation, it would be something fragile, and it turns out to be so massive, so big, like something eternal, there are no words, it's a feeling that it will stand not for 100, but for 1000 years.
"I will try to convey my emotions to readers. I am sure that I will find the words so that they are also surprised," Ulrich Hayden said, echoing his colleague. Hayden is a correspondent of the German newspaper Freitag.
The builders left to mount two closing blocks, to complete an arch: Arched spans are being installed on the fairway supports.
This is not the first press tour of the foreign press on the Kerch bridge. Last summer, foreign journalists were able to observe the construction from Taman.
The Crimea Bridge will be the longest in Russia: 19 kilometers long. Construction is going on around the clock on eight plots. More than 320 pilings out of the engineering plans of 595 are ready.
More than 60 thousand tons of metal structures have been assembled, of which more than 8 thousand tons are for navigable arches.
Movement on the automobile part is planned to start in December 2018, on the railway, in December 2019.
