Iran has sent its first shipment of food products to Qatar, amid the ongoing diplomatic crisis between Qatar and some of its fellow Gulf Cooperation Council states.

The Iranian media said Tehran sent its first batch of food to Qatar via cargo plane, noting that Qatari authorities are currently negotiating with Iran and Turkey on food and water supplies due to restrictions, imposed by the Gulf States and Saudi Arabia on charges of supporting terrorism.

Reza Noorani, President of the Union of Iranian Exporters of Agricultural Products, has already assured his country is ready to export all kinds of food products, despite the sanctions.

On Monday, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, ceased all diplomatic relations with Qatar, stating terrorism and meddling in internal affairs as the main reason behind their decision.

Later, Maldives, Egypt, Yemen and Libya decided to follow the same pattern too.

In addition, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain gave Qatari citizens, currently residing in their territories, 14 days to leave.

Kuwait and Oman, the two remaining members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, take the position of neutrality and reportedly aim to ease the tensions between the conflicting sides through mediation.
