Losing marbles: ex-President's brother thinks Ancient Greeks spoke Ukrainian - Like This Article

June 6, 2017 - Fort Russ News -

A sensational statement was made in an interview with television channel "Rada", by the brother of ex-President, Viktor Yushchenko, - who calls himself a historian, and former MP of the Verkhovna Rada, Petro Yuschenko.

He spoke of the existence of a certain civilization, which united 70 nations, and which included Ukraine. Yushchenko claims Ukraine was on the border of this civilization - hence, according to the "historian" , the word "Ukraine" means "margin" of that civilization. (This is true, but only in relation to the Russian Empire, not the Ancient Greeks!)

In addition, Petro Yushchenko said that ancient Greek philosophers spoke Ukrainian; where even the famous Diogenes supposedly advised to use the language as a state language.

In April, his brother, ex-President Viktor Yushchenko said that Ukraine and Russia warred 24 times in history. And before that, he claimed that Fyodor Dostoevsky, Peter Tchaikovsky, as well as Ilya Repin were all representatives of Ukrainian culture.

In addition, in January, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine actively made changes in "Wikipedia", altering the birthplace of the famous ancient Russian hero, Ilya Muromets. Changes now state that he was a native of a village near Chernigov (today's Ukraine) and not from the village of Karacharovo, near Murom (Vladimir Region in Russia).
