Verkhovna Rada deputy, Nadezhda Savchenko, was pelted with eggs when she visited the Nikolaevka region.
Savchenko came in order to speak with the townspeople, when during her speech representatives of the Right Sector and a number of other nationalist movements began to accuse her that she is working for Russia. Then they threw eggs.
Around 20 police officers were on the scene to prevent an escalation of events.
Nadejda Savchenko is a former military pilot, and the only Ukrainian female pilot to have flown the Su- 24 bomber and Mi- 24 helicopter. In 2014, she was accused and convicted of directing artillery fire at two Russian journalists in the Donbass, which killed them. She was elected to the Verkhovna Rada while still imprisoned in Russia, but released during a prisoner swap for 2 Russian intelligence officers in the Ukraine. Since 2016, she has increasingly spoken out against the Poroshenko-government and his failed policies, because of which she has been accused (mostly by Right Sector Neo Nazis) of being a Kremlin Agent.
