Russian Foreign Ministry said the report of the special mission of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on the alleged use of sarin gas in the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun back on the 4th of April, is based on questionable data whose authenticity is hard to verify.

In a statement, issued on Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry said the findings of the reports solely rely on questionable data, obtained from dubious sources, such as various NGOs, particularly the notorious White Helmets, in addition to the fact that none of the discoveries originate from the site of the incident, but rather from a neighboring country.

The Ministry noted that WHO experts have not yet visited Khan Sheikhoun, adding that judging by the previous statements, regarding the incident, the biased attitude is nothing surprising, and leads to the conclusion that political motives are behind the work of OPCW.
Moscow was also appalled by the recent statement and the sudden conclusion of the events, made by the permanent US representative to the UN, Nikki Haley, who said WHO experts uncovered the irrefutable truth on the incident, adding that Russian side, while rejecting credibility of the report, also failed to provide any evidence, proving that Syrian Army did not use chemicals in Khan Sheikhoun.

The statement further added that Moscow intends to study the report in detail and announce its position towards it during the next OPCW Executive Council meeting, scheduled to take place on the 5th of July, as well as at the upcoming UN Security Council meeting on the matter, once more stressing the need for a prompt and thorough investigation into the Khan Sheikhoun incident, with the participation of both, the United Nations and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, on the use of chemical weapons in Syria's Khan Sheikhoun, hoping that this will not only explain all the circumstances of the tragic incident and identify those responsible, but also that experts will not only visit Khan Sheikhoun, but also the Shayrat Air Base, as the United States insists that the Syrian Army stocks its chemical weapons there.

Only 3 days after the supposed attack, the United States had carried out an illegal missile strike against Syria by firing 59 Tomahawks, directed at the Sharyat Air Base in Homs countryside, out of which only 23 hit their targets.

Nevertheless, 15 people, 9 civilians including, were killed as a result of the missile strike.

Previously, Russia has not only rejected the false allegations made by US, but also various reports on the alleged chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun, as they were all based on claims, made by the notorious White Helmets, known for maintaining ties with specific terrorist groups, Al Nusra Front including.
