Russian specialists have implemented the largest CIS state project in the field of face recognition. This system will be used for security at the international exhibition EXPO 2017, held in Astana from 10 June to 10 September. The system is already being actively used in Belarus, as well as in Russian government institutions, among which: the FSB, Federal Security Service, the Interior Ministry and city administrations.

The international Expo in terms of significance is in line with the the World Economic Forum, and scale is comparable to the Olympic Games. This year, the forum was attended by over one hundred countries and 18 international organizations. It is expected that during the time of the exhibition, it will still be visited by more than 5 million visitors. And all of these 5 million people will be screened through a system of FaceControl biometric face recognition. Today it is the most large-scale security system of this class in the CIS.

The CEO of the development company "Vocord", Timur Vekilov, the exhibition has installed 48 cameras through out the complex.

- Passage to the exhibition grounds is via four entrances, located in different parts of the complex, each of which is equipped with a system of remote biometric FaceControl face recognition, - he said. - They can operate autonomously from one another, or all together.

The face of each person is detected and then recognized by the system and compared to blacklists. Identification time is less than a second.

According to Chairman of the Administrative Police Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Talgat Musakanova, law enforcement bodies of the republic have for the first time used a facial recognition system. In the first week if operation, 20 people matched a search database, whom did not have access rights to the Expo.

The face recognition complex is able to identify people from photographs, not only from criminal investigation bases, but also photos, downloaded from social networks. The system collects and archives the faces of all visitors, making it easy to determine where, when and how often people visit the exhibition center.

The security system is planned to be unrolled to all major events.
