Serbia's policy towards Russia won’t change, said the former President of the country and Head of the National Committee for Cooperation with Russia and China, Tomislav Nikolic.

"Nothing will change significantly in Serbia’s politics. Serbia has long since determined its priorities: political, diplomatic and economic issues”, Nikolic said at a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin .

He pointed out that friendly relations with Russia will be preserved, and that with other countries respectful and confident relations will be maintained, in a way "that Westerners often fail to understand."

"I'm no longer president, so I can say it openly," he said.

Dmitry Rogozin earlier announced Friday's scheduled meeting with Serbia's new president Aleksandr Vucic.

"We have discussed economic issues and how we will set future work in adherence to the formation of your new government, and we briefly reviewed the results of past years," said Rogozin.
