The Border department of the FSB in the Trans-Baikal region reported the detention of a US citizen when attempting to  cross the Russian-Chinese border.

According to Gazeta.ru, the detained admitted that he engaged in hacking and hacker attacks of government web resources (various countries) and commercial espionage. The hacker goes by the name of David Charles who decided to flee the United States through Alaska. The border guard noted that the man had a fake passport of a citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania and acquired a bank card to someone else's name.

Upon buying various fake documents, the anonymous seller had disappeared with the detainee's money to China. The detainee had followed him to Chinese territory, where he was spotted by officers of the Border Guard of China. He was detained by the FSB upon illegally attempting to cross into Russia.

The US has stated that the detainee is not their citizen.
