Kiev's City Council made another scandalous decision and renamed the former avenue for Soviet Commander Vatutin, to the name of the commander of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UIA), Shukhevych.

Voting in favour were 68 out of 120 deputies.

The command of General Nikolai Vatutin of the 1st Ukrainian Front liberated Kiev in WWII, who subsequently died from injuries sustained in the liberation.

At the same time, the commander of the UIA Roman Shukhevych (pictured second from the right in the bottom row), served as deputy commander of Hitler's "Nachtigall" unit and later became deputy commander of the 201 battalion of the security police, under the operational control SS Obergruppenführer, Erich von dem Bach.

It is worth noting that the monument to General Vatutin, set in the center of Kiev on his grave at the Mariinsky park, has been repeatedly desecrated Ukrainian neo-Nazis.
