The Department of Defense spent $ 94 million in forest camouflage overalls for Afghan security forces in a country where forests cover less than 2% of the entire national territory, the Newsweek reports.

"The  Department's decision to provide this kind of uniform to Afghan security forces is not consistent with the Afghan environment," commented the Inspector General for the Reconstruction of Afghanistan (SIGAR), who is in charge for quality control.

The publication reveals that the mistake is not entirely attributable to the Pentagon, since the Afghan security forces themselves were required to request the design of the camouflage uniforms on the grounds of subjective preferences. Washington's fault would be that it didn’t pre-emptively assess the specifics of the claim.
