Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Ankara is ready to provide assistance for normalization of diplomatic relations between Qatar and some of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, namely Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

During a press conference, held with his German counterpart Sigmar Gabriel, Cavusoglu said Ankara deeply regrets the ongoing diplomatic crisis between Qatar and some of its fellow GCC states, adding his country supports the stability of the region and is working on restoring the unity among the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

He also stressed the need for continuation of a dialogue so that the crisis will be resolved peacefully and expressed his country's readiness to intervene and mediate between the states, currently involved in a diplomatic row.

It is noteworthy that not only Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain cut their diplomatic relations with Qatar on Monday, but also Maldives, Egypt, Yemen and Libya.

Support for terrorism and meddling in internal affairs were some of the reasons, given by the aforementioned countries.

If the current crisis continues, Qatar’s own future might be at stake.
