The Head of the Board of the Ukrainian gas company, "Naftogaz", Andrew Kobolev. urged the US to extend the application of anti-Russian sanctions on all companies directly or indirectly involved in the project "North Stream-2". He stated this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.
According to Kobolev, this project presents a danger for Ukraine and threatens US interests as it will enhance the possibility of Gazprom's "abuse of a dominant position."
"Every independent analysis demonstrates that laying the pipeline is directed against the interests of the US. It is against the principle of solidarity in Europe", - said Andrey Kobolev.
The Upper Chamber (Senate) of the US Congress adopted a bill to impose new sanctions against the Russian Federation and legislative consolidation of a number of already existing ones. European leaders, most importantly Germany, whom are counting on the energy security from Nord-Stream 2 pipeline, condemned this new bill.
