The US Permanent Representative to the UN, Nikky Haley, has stated that anti-Russian US sanctions will remain "strong and tough", adding that Moscow will not be able to carry out attempts to split the Alliance against it.

The pressure on Russia will not be reduced so long as it "does not take responsibility for the performance on its part of the Minsk agreements", including the transfer of control of the border in the region of Donbass.

"All I know is we're going to keep our sanctions relating to Ukraine's problems, strong and hard", - summed up Haley.

According to the ambassador, Russia continues to interfere in the political choices of other countries, forcing the international community to continue its sanctions policy.

"US conducts a consistent policy against violence on the part of Russia in Ukraine and its support for Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime." Haley promises to take all necessary measures against Moscow in the UN Security Council.

Haley also said that Russia will not be able to carry out attempts to split the Alliance and NATO will remain a strong and unified Western military alliance in defiance of Moscow.

The American diplomat emphasized that the administration of US President Donald Trump is committed to the principle of collective defense and the attack on any one member of NATO member states will amount to an attack on the entire unit as a whole.

Haley explained that "the threat against one of us - is a threat to all of us" and that the US will never depart from compliance with the fifth article of the Charter of the alliance.

Article 5 of the NATO Charter states that an armed attack against one or more countries of the alliance will be considered an attack on the alliance as a whole.
