The deployment of elements of the US anti-missile shield in Romania and Poland threatens Russia's security, said Ryssia's envoy to NATO Alexander Grushko.
According to the diplomat, these elements are "very relevant from a combat point of view".
"All these deployments create a completely new configuration of forces close to our borders, which not only significantly deteriorates the security situation in the region, but also poses dangers and threats to the Russian Federation," the Russian diplomat told journalists.
In recent years, NATO countries have actively developed missile defense elements in Europe. A US radar has already been operating in Turkey. In May last year the Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System came into operation in Romania. In Germany, the Ramstein base served as the command center for planning missile attacks. Last May the inauguration ceremony of the construction of the Aegis Ashore complex was held in Poland.
Russia repeatedly claimed it would respond adequately to the advancement of NATO's military infrastructure.
