President Putin and President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev met today in Moscow. The two leaders discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda and in the wider frame of Eurasian integration.

Amongst the several issues on the agenda, the promotion of mutually beneficial strategies in the fields of trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation were discussed.

The two Presidents signed a statement on the strengthening of the alliance and strategic partnership, on the grounds of today’s talks at the Kremlin. 

The finance ministers of the two countries, in turns, signed an intergovernmental protocol on the extinction of Bishkek's debt to Moscow’s funding. The amount of the extinguished debt was not specified. 

According to the Russian press agency Interfax, President Putin stressed that the Russian government appreciated the work done with Atambayev, whose term expires at the end of the year.

Addressing the regional security issues, President Putin added that the presence of a Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan ensures security in Central Asia.
