Tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Nagorno Karabagh (Artsakh) continue to rise amid Azerbaijani provocations and incursions.

On the evening of the 4th of July, Ministry of Defense of the Artsakh (Nagorno Karabagh) Republic announced that Artsakh Defense Forces have responded to Azerbaijan’s provocative shelling of Armenian positions earlier in the evening.

According to the statement, issued by the Artsakh Ministry of Defense, the Azerbaijani side suffered several human losses in the ranks of soldiers, in addition to a military post in the Azerbaijani border village of Alghanlu being damaged.

The Artsakh Ministry of Defense confirmed that Azerbaijani side violated the ceasefire agreement along the Artsakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact (LoC) several times, using the Turkish-made TR-107 rocket launchers, despite warnings.

The Ministry also called on all relevant international bodies to immediately respond to Azerbaijan’s aggression and force it to respect the ceasefire agreement.

Right after the incident, Azerbaijani press started to make reports that three Armenian servicemen from Artsakh Defense Forces were killed in the shelling.

On July 5th, The Artsakh Ministry of Defense released a statement, refuting the false information shared by the Azeri side.

“Unlike the Azerbaijani side, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh is committed to transparency and it regularly provides information on the incidents taking place, whereas disinformation by the adversary is directed exclusively to a domestic audience,” a part of the statement read, adding that “Azerbaijan habitually deploys its posts inside settlements, turning civilians into human shields.”

The Artsakh Ministry of Defense also published a video, showing Azerbaijan’s use of the TR-107 rocket launcher.

As evident from the time schedule fixed on screen, the Armenian side began firing at 8:31 p.m., local time, on July 4th, following several strikes by Azerbaijani armed forces.

In addition, the Ministry also released an audio recording of a conversation between members of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, which further proves proves that the retaliatory fire hit and targeted the Azerbaijani positions.

It is noteworthy that since March 2016, the Azerbaijani regime forces are frequently making illegal incursions into Armenian territories, and often with foreign help, provided by the various terrorist groups, such as the Turkish ultranationalist Grey Wolves, ISIS and Al Nusra Front.

Members of the notorious Ukrainian neo-nazi group Pravy Sektor have also expressed their support for Azerbaijani side in the conflict.

Recently, the Bulgarian branch of the famous hacking group Anonymous exposed the Azerbaijani regime as one of the largest suppliers of terrorists throughout the world.

The disputed territory of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabagh), was historically Armenian, before being annexed to the Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan in 1920. Despite this, Armenians retained their ethnic majority and later also liberated their historic land, following a six years long war between 1988-94.
