In memory of the “angels”

On June 27th, in the children's park of Lugansk, a solemn opening event was held for a memorial to the killed children of Donbass. The leaders of the republic, headed by Igor Plotnitsky, were present at the opening of the monument. Children, together with representatives of the youth organization "Young Guard", installed mourning candles near the monument and white balloons representing peaceful life were released into the sky.

A requiem was held in the Orthodox church and, at the end of the event, all the people present laid flowers and stuffed animals at the memorial.

Over the three years of Ukraine's military aggression on the territory of the Lugansk People's Republic, 33 children have died from Ukrainian Armed Forces' fire.

OSCE opens new patrol base in Popasnaya

In Popasnaya, a city controlled by Ukraine, another advanced patrol base for observers of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission has opened. The opening of the new advanced patrol base was attended by the First Deputy Head of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, Alexander Hug, and by other mission observers. As previously remarked by Alexander Hug, such bases will allow the mission to respond effectively to incidents since the bases are often situated in the most tense areas. Advanced patrol bases have been previously opened in the towns of Schastye and Stanitsa Luganskaya.

Pro-Poroshenko faction deputy proposes to abolish pensions in Ukraine

Alexei Mushak, a People’s Deputy of Ukraine from Petro Poroshenko’s faction, has proposed an original "solution" for the problem of pension reform. Mushak proposes to abolish pensions in Ukraine altogether "to enable citizens to earn more". According to this scheme, well-earning citizens would provide for their parents themselves so that "the deficit of the Pension Fund will decrease.”

"Obviously, even with increasing pensions, children should still help their parents so that they can live, and parents should work somewhere meanwhile....We have a Pension Fund deficit of 150 billion. So, where does this money come from? It comes from the fact that schools, roads and hospitals are underfunded. Therefore, I am ready to take the consolidated decision to cancel pensions and to save this money for economic growth,” the Petro Poroshenko Bloc deputy summed up.

Liquidating the Pension Fund deficit is one of the most important demands put on Ukraine by the IMF. Rada deputy Mushak has proposed the most radical and simple way to eliminate the deficit: through the liquidation of pensioners themselves.

"Ceasefire": 2 injured, 1 killed by mine in Perevalsk

Civilians in the republics of Donbass continue to perish at the hands of the Ukrainian military even during the “truce”.

On June 24th, in Borzhikovka village, in the Perevalsky district of the LPR, during field work, a KamAZ car hit an anti-personnel mine, as a result of which three men were injured. The 30-year-driver received a mine-blast injury, fragmentation wounds to his lower limbs, blunt abdominal trauma, and traumatic brain injury. The man died a few hours after the incident. A 19-year-old received deep abrasions to the right shoulder, abrasions to the forehead and to the left upper eyelid. A 17-year-old boy sustained a closed craniocerebral injury, brain concussion, and a thorax bruise. Both victims are in the trauma department of the central city hospital in Alchevsk.

Lights out for the "strongest army in Europe"

Since June 19th, the Lugansk Energy Association (LEA) has cut off several Ukrainian military facilities (checkpoints and military units) from power supplies in the Lugansk region. This has been reported by the press office of the LEA. The reason behind such a move has to do with the debts accumulated in the amount of 7 million UAH (slightly more than 100 thousand euros) and the long-standing refusal to conclude contracts. The company has reported that, in response, the Ukrainian military unlawfully detained the head of the emergency power station in the town of Schastye. Thanks to the personal intervention of the Deputy Governor of the region, Yuri Klimenko, the detained chief was released.

For 3 years, the leadership of the LEA has suggested many times that the government should pay for the supply of electricity to military facilities from the budget. The Cabinet has not reacted nor taken any decisions in this direction.
