France has apparently made a U-turn as regards its Syria policies.

During a press conference, held with the US President Donald Trump at the Elysee Palace in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron said his country is interested in ending the terrorism problem rather then ousting the Syrian President Bashar Al Assad.

“Indeed, we now have a new approach in Syria, because we want results and we want to work closely together with all our partners including the United States. We have one main goal which is to eradicate terrorism, no matter who they are, we want to build an inclusive and sustainable political solution. I do not require Assad’s departure, that’s no longer a prerequisite for France”, Macron was heard saying.

These words speak for a significant, but positive change that France has made as regards Syria.

For comparison: Macron’s predecessor Francois Hollande insisted on ousting Bashar Al Assad and sending weapons to terrorist groups, operating in Syria, until his very last day in Élysée Palace.
