Despite the decisive victory against ISIS in Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, the battle against ISIS in the country is not yet over.

On Friday, a security source said a new operation was launched by the Popular Mobilization Units (Al Hashd Al Shaabi) in order to regain control of the town of Hawija and other places located west of Mosul that are still under occupation of ISIS.

The source pointed out the Ninth Armored Division of the North and Brigade 60 of the Task Force 17 participated in liberation of the village of Imam Gharbi, located west of Sharqat in the northern countryside of Salah Ed Din province.

The source added that the second and third division of the Iraqi Federal Police special forces participated in the operation as well.

According to the field reports, Popular Mobilization Units also managed to liberate the train station in the village.

Meanwhile, Brigade 110 of the Popular Mobilization Units ambushed ISIS terrorists in the vicinity of the village of Imam Wees in the valley of Hamrin, located northeast of the city of Baquba. Two ISIS terrorists were killed in the process.
