Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarchate Visits Syria - Like This Article

Syrian President Bashar Al Assad received a delegation of the Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarchate on Tuesday. 

The delegation, which was led by the Patriarch Joseph Absi, visited Syria on the occasion of Absi’s appointment as the Patriarch of Melkite Greek Catholic of Antioch and All East.

The meeting was primarily focused on the situation in Syria and the war against terrorism, whose final outcome will not only decide the fate of Syria, but whole region as well.

During the meeting, Al Assad stressed that Syrian people manage to succeed in their war against the terrorists, in particularly thanks to their steadfastness and strong determination of keeping Syria united and protecting its demographic and religious diversity that has been defining Syria for centuries.

He also praised the important national role of the Church, played in the current war, as well as its aid to the citizens in need, adding all this greatly contributed to keep Syria united.

For his part, Patriarch Joseph Absi and his fellow members of delegation, expressed their gratitude to the Syrian people for protecting the Church and its values as part of their own heritage, while also saying with confidence that Syria will eventually achieve its victory against the terrorism, with peace and stability once again returning to the whole of Syria.
