"Kiev readying an 'armed provocation' near the contact line in Donbass" |
Kiev forces have built floating bridges spanning the Severski Donets River near the Donbass line of contact, said Andrey Marochko today [June 25] at a press briefing. Marochko is a spokesperson of the People's Militia of the People's Republic Of Lugansk.
"According to our information, Ukrainian forces have built floating bridges spanning the Severski Donets River near the village of Krymskoe, under cover of statements about helping the local population to move to the other side," noted Mr. Marochko.
He also added that in reality the Ukrainian side was considering the use of floating pontoons to transport military equipment and weapons that are now in the village of Muratovo.
"Our actions aim to resolve the conflict in the Donbass region peacefully, but in the event of a worsening situation, the RPL People's Militia reserves the right to take action to liberate the territories captured by the forces of Kiev," concluded Andrey Marochko.
Previously, the contact group on Ukraine, meeting on Wednesday [June 21] in Minsk, agreed on a truce known as "Bread" in the Donbass. The agreement aims to stop hostilities along the line of contact during the harvest season from June 24th to midnight August 31st.
Despite the entry into force of this truce, the Donbass is still the target of shells and projectiles fired by the forces of Kiev.
In 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the republics of Lugansk and Donetsk, which unilaterally proclaimed their independence after the coup d'état in Ukraine in February of the same year. According to the UN, the conflict has already killed 10,000 people.
