The report of the OPCW on the chemical attack in Idlib is based on the data of terrorists, - the Syrian Foreign Ministry | Russian Spring

The Syrian leadership has demanded an objective and reliable report on the chemical attack in the settlement of Khan-Sheikhun from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The OPCW mission to establish the facts of the use of chemical weapons confirmed that in early April a prohibited sarin gas was used in Syria.

"The Syrian Arab Republic demands that the OPCW provide a fair and reliable report, without the influence of blackmail by states and parties that prevent it from reaching the truth, and harming its authority and independence," the statement reads.

On April 4, the Syrian opposition announced that there were 80 victims of chemical weapons attack in Khan-Sheikhun city of Idlib province, and 200 wounded. The OPCW blamed the attack on Syrian government troops, who in response strongly rejected the accusations and laid the blame on the militants and their patrons. [This sentence, "OPCW blamed..." is contradicted by CNN, which reports that the OPCW does not assign blame. See link in caption of map, above -- tr.]

The Syrian authorities insist that they had never used chemical weapons against civilians and terrorists, and the entire chemical arsenal of the country had been exported under the control of the OPCW.
