On Saturday, Nibal Madhat Badr, originally from Tartous, coastal Syria, assumed the position of a Brigadier General in the Syrian Armed Forces, as the first female in Syria’s modern history.

This is a blow not only to the terrorists, but also to the mainstream media that is constantly trying to portray the US-backed Kurdish separatist militias of the so-called “Syrian Democratic Forces”, as the one and only guarantors of women's rights in the country.

Although women were always present in the Syrian Army and often managed to get promoted to the higher ranks, this is the first time that a woman was appointed as a brigadier general.

Over the course of war in Syria, women became increasingly active as both, soldiers and police officers.
