Leadership of Joulani’s terrorist group Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham (ex-Al Nusra Front) has announced that a mass “security” operation was carried out today, targeting local ISIS leaders and their positions in the northwestern Syrian province of Idleb and the surrounding areas.
Ibaa, the press agency of Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham (until recently known as the Nusra Front), issued a statement, saying Tahrir’s units carried out special operation in order to kill Raed Aboul Abbas, an ISIS operative who has been leading a cell whose primary task was to make mines for booby-trapping vehicles in the eastern countryside of Hama.
The operation, which caused a mass explosion and claimed the life of Aboul Abbas, was reportedly carried out in the village of Hazm, located east of Hama.
The statement added that Tahrir Al Sham terrorists managed to occupy at least 25 ISIS checkpoints in the countrysides of Idlib and Sarmin, northwestern Syria.
Seevral high-ranking ISIS leaders were arrested, including Abu Suleiman Al Rousi (senior security official) , Abu Sawda Al Masri (senior sharia official), Abu Ibrahim Al Iraqi (leader of the local ISIS cell in Idleb) and Abu Qaqaa Al Janoubi (leader of ISIS in northern Syria).
