Speaking on behalf of the Russian Foreign Ministry, its spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded to a new campaign of disinformation about the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian Army.
Commenting on her official Facebook site on Sunday, Zakharova said more and more media fabrications and various provocative scenarios are being directed at Syria as a part of a large-scale anti-Syrian campaign of Hollywood-style proportions.
Already on Thursday, Zakharova said that latest US provocations about the possibility of a new chemical attack, carried out by the Syrian Army, are just a tool, aimed at bringing back the subject of the so-called regime crimes to the surface.
She noted that US statements about the possible chemical attacks are not only directed against Syria, but also against Russia, adding that it is clear the United States are gearing up for a new military intervention in Syria.
Yesterday, the General Command of the Syrian Army refuted the lies, shared by certain social media sites with links to the terrorist groups, which were saying that Syrian Army is using chlorine gas against the jihadists in the Damascene district of Ein Tarma, stressing the news is false and completely baseless. This was also confirmed by the experts of the Russian Coordination Center.
On Saturday, the jihadists released footage, claiming it shows the bombing of the town of Zamalka with chlorine. They even went as far as to claim to have recorded several cases of suffocation.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Foreign Ministry has responded to a report, made by the experts of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons on Khan Sheikhoun events, claiming the report is fabricated and based on dubious information, provided by the sources, close to the terrorist groups, adding that such impartial reports shall not be used to blackmail the countries.
