Egyptian terrorist group Hasm Movement has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s terror attack in front of Myanmar's embassy in Cairo.
According to the group, its members wanted to revenge for what they described as “atrocities of the Myanmarese Army against the Rohingya Muslim minority.”
Earlier on Sunday, an explosion was heard right next to the Myanmarese embassy in Cairo. It caused only a minor material damage and no casualties.
Formed in 2016, Hasm Movement struck several times in Egypt, mostly by attempting to assassinate important religious and political figures.
On December 9th 2016, the movement claimed responsibility for a terror attack on a checkpoint on the main road near the Giza pyramid complex on the outskirts of Cairo, killing six police officers.
