Georgia needs a president like Vladimir Putin, who would do the same for his country. The former chairman of the Georgian parliament, Nino Burjanadze, stated this on the air of Deutsche Welle.

According to her, the fugitive ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili held a much tougher policy in his country than Putin, but in the West - he was always called a great democrat, while Russian President Vladimir Putin was accused of authoritarianism.

"In any case, I would not compare to Putin and Saakashvili. Because Putin is a serious politician, he is a serious leader, he is a person who knows what is needed for his country and really does what is necessary for his country. Saakashvili is an impulsive person. And the fact that Putin is criticized of authoritarian power, and no one has ever criticized Saakashvili in the West, for me it is an indicator of double standards ... Saakashvili got away with much more violations of human rights and opposition rights than I see violations in Russia. But, nevertheless, he was called a great democrat. And Putin's is called an authoritarian regime," she said.

She also stressed that Putin has for 10-15 years raised Russia from its knees, which would be good to do in Georgia: "He does a lot for his country. He took Russia from its knees back to his feet. You look at Russia, consider what happened to Russia 10-15 years ago, and what its is now. I honestly would like Georgia to have the same president as Putin is for Russia."
