The Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi has visited the town of Al Qa'im, the last ISIS stronghold in Iraq, to personally congratulate the liberators.

He also raised the Iraqi flag at the Syrian border.

On Friday, the joint coalition of Iraqi Forces, consisting of Iraqi Army and the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), Iraq's largest paramilitary group, liberated the town of Al Qa'im, at the time the last remaining ISIS stronghold in all of Iraq, following 9-days-long battle with ISIS terrorists.

Later in the day, they also liberated the entire district of Al Qa'im and met up with the Syrian troops at the border.

This was a major achievement ever since the fight against ISIS began in 2014, and which one more or less concluded the chapter of ISIS in Iraq.

Although certain smaller parts of Iraqi territory still remain occupied by ISIS, they are expected to get fully liberated by the end of the year.
