Kuwait has joined Saudi Arabia in ordering its citizens to immediately leave Lebanon and not travel to the country due to “uncertain” political situation.

Earlier on Thursday, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry called on its citizens to leave Lebanon immediately.

“In light of the situation in the brotherly Republic of Lebanon, and in anticipation of possible negative repercussions as regards the security and safety of its people, the State of Kuwait asks its citizens currently staying in Lebanon to leave immediately and not return under any circumstances”, the Ministry said in a statement.

On Saturday, the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri suddenly resigned while visiting Saudi Arabia, citing the growing influence of Iran and Hezbollah and possible attempts on his life as the main reasons behind his decision. Many argue that Saudis may have forced him to resign.

On November 5th, Bahraini Foreign Ministry asked its citizens to leave Lebanese territory “immediately” and warned them not to travel to the country.
