The adviser to the Iranian Foreign Minister, Sheikh Hosein Al Islam, said that the resignation of the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri was provoked of the US President Donald Trump and Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of the Saudi regime, in order to counter Hezbollah.

“We would prefer Saad Hariri to have at least some dignity and respect for his people. He should have resigned while in Lebanon, not while visiting Riyadh”, Mehr News Agency quoted Al Islam as saying, adding that the resignation of the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri clearly comes as a Saudi way of confronting Hezbollah and its influence in Lebanon and the broader region.

During his Saturday visit to the Saudi capital city of Riyadh, Saad Hariri announced his resignation as a Lebanese Prime Minister, citing the growing influence and strength of Iran and Hezbollah as the main reason behind his decision.

He said that the current atmosphere in Lebanon resembles the one from the time when his father, the late Lebanese business tycoon and a former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, got assassinated.
