The largest solar power plant located inside a refugee camp was unveiled on Monday in the Zaatari refugee camp in northern Jordan.

Zaatari refugee camp was first opened on July 28, 2012 to host Syrians fleeing the war that has engulfed their country since 2011.

The camp has a population of approximately 83,000 people, in which the camp has descended into a center of crime with prostitution and drugs rampant.

It has also been used a base for anti-Syrian government activity in Jordan.

The camp is managed by the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization and many organisations have presence including the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees and Doctors Without Borders.
