Harvard likened Pussy Riot to Solzhenitsyn and Bukovsky

In the new academic year Harvard students will study the behavior of Russian dissidents. Among the subjects of the study — writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn, actively speaking out in the Soviet Union against the government, as well as Pussy Riot punk band, which became famous in 2012 due to the scandalous action at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. The new course was prepared by the Department of Slavic languages and literature. The announcement was posted on Harvard's official website.

"We are fascinated by the courage of the dissidents who oppose tyrannical regimes, — says the annotation to the course. "We will explore the thinking and behavior of dissidents and so on. As examples we will study the activists of the Soviet Union and Russia, including writers Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and Vladimir Bukovsky, as well as the punk band Pussy Riot".

They must have listened to Soros, who's life's mission is to attack disobedient governments with soft power tools, as he explains below  - KK

Harvard can thus try to interest students in the study of the Russian Federation, said the director of the Franklin Roosevelt Foundation of US Studies of Moscow State University, Yuri Rogulev.

"After the cold war the United States had practically ceased to study Russia, this area has stalled. Representatives of the State Department have repeatedly complained that they have few experts on Russian politics, history and so on, — said the expert. — I don't understand how you can put on a par with this greatest figure like Solzhenitsyn, who fought against the USSR, but for the Russian Empire, a fleeting phenomenon such as Pussy Riot. Harvard, apparently, just decided to attract students with catchy names and titles.

It is likely that one of the best universities in the world is going to prepare future employees for Western agencies, which will specialize in Russia, says analyst Alexander Ionov.

"The West needs people who will work in such organizations as the State Department — said the expert. — In the future students will be able to work with the Russian opposition. Americans always place a high priority on working with our dissidents, who, in their opinion, are capable to engage in subversive activities inside Russia."

KK: Pussy Riot is not a conventional music band, whose music talents are unclear, but an anti-Putin political feminist movement which doesn't have permanent members and is thus 'immortal'.

Russian public opinion about them is largely negative as they are viewed as an outside soft power project of destabilization using vulnerable youth.

The girls became most famous with their "protest" sex orgy (and with one member 7 months pregnant) in a public museum, evidence of which we cannot post here but is widely available online.

Two members of the group were sentenced to two years behind bars for breaking into an Orthodox cathedral and indecent performance during mass.

Foreign Policy magazine ranked Pussy Riot #16 on the list of the most influential thinkers of 2012. (The critical year when Putin was running for president, and efforts to prevent his new term were in full swing)
