Terrorist group ISIS has blown up the iconic Great Mosque of Al Nouri in Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, Iraqi military sources claim.

Built between 1172-73, the historical mosque in the Old City of Mosul was famous for its 45 meters long leaning minaret.

The news come, following a major progress by the Iraqi forces earlier on Wednesday when they stormed the Old City of Mosul.

Currently, the Iraqi forces are chasing ISIS in Al Farouq district.

Previously, ISIS leader ABu Bakr Al Baghdadi declared his caliphate at the Great Mosque of Al Nouri.
