Kiev buys military equipment components in Russia - Like This Article

June 12th, 2017 - Fort Russ News -

Ukraine continues to bypass what is considered "semi-criminal" bans on buying Russian components for their military equipment, as was stated in an interview with a Verkhovna Rada deputy Dmitry Tymchuk.

According to him, the Ukrainian defense industry is able to provide the needs of the Ukrainian army to only 40% of requirements. Refusal of Soviet weapons at the same time "is simply not considered", because it will require billions of dollars of investment.

"So the options are to either to buy in Russia or nowhere at all - the weapons, which are now ageing, cannot  be refurbished - there there are no parts for them." - Tymchuk said.

Ukrainian defense industry organizes supplies from Russia via third company.

"As there is a ban on trade relations with Russia, are industry is acquiring Russian-made components, via a backdoor method." - said the parliamentarian.

Ed: It would be wise of Russia, knowing how the weapons are used, to uphold this ban from the Russian side. It seems in this case, economics prevail over ethics.
