Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently held a telephone conversation with his American counterpart, the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, in which he expressed the need for the correct approach to the situation and the demand to stop targeting the positions of the Syrian Army.
The two men stressed the importance of boosting cooperation between Moscow and Washington as regards the Syrian issue and establishing the communication channels between the two countries in order to be able to settle the crisis in Syria, especially through Astana and Geneva negotiations.
In the past two weeks, the US-led coalition forces several times struck the positions of the Syrian Army, in particularly while the latter was scoring major victories against ISIS.
It is noteworthy that not too long ago, the US threatened the Syrian forces with consequences should there be any more progress against ISIS made.
