Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz has met with the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

The meeting, which was mainly focused on latest developments in the region as well as bilateral relations between the two states, came within the scope of the Turkish efforts to resolve the ongoing diplomatic crisis between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Diplomatic sources told Agence France-Presse that the meeting had a positive outcome.

Cavusoglu arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday night as a part of his Gulf tour which started on Wednesday by first visiting Doha and then Kuwait.

The aim of the tour is the resolve the ongoing diplomatic crisis between Qatar and some of its fellow Gulf Cooperation Council states.

On Thursday, Cavusoglu announced his country expects that Saudi Arabia will eventually agree to resolve the Qatari crisis in a diplomatic way and will abandon embargo and sanctions as they are, according to himself, beneficial for no-one.

Meanwhile, Saudi media quoted an official source, saying that Saudi Arabia cannot allow Turkey to establish military bases on its territory.

The source added the Kingdom does not need such things as its armed forces are in the “best shape”, noting their “participation” in the “fight against terrorism” and their involvement in ”protecting security and stability of the region.”

For his part, the Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubeir, said the work is underway to prepare a list of complaints about Qatar and which will be announced very soon.

During his visit in London, Al Jubeir said Saudi Arabia is working with Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt to prepare a list of complaints and documented violations and then submit it to Qatar, adding he expects a positive response from Doha and that the latter will eventually realize its mistakes and will cease all forms of support for terrorism.

It is noteworthy that majority of financial aid for the terrorist groups is said to be coming from Saudi Arabia.
